The Amazon Of Japan “Rakuten” Launches Its Own NFT Marketplace

Rakuten has more than 125 million customers worldwide and now they have launched their own NFT marketplace in Japan.


The new Rakuten NFT marketplace is targeting NFTs in sports and entertainment. Marketplace makes it easy for its users to buy and sell NFTs. Rakuten NFT Marketplace will develop a platform in 2023 or later that will allow intellectual property (IP) holders in Japan to create their own solutions to easily issue and sell NFTs.

On February 25, first NFT was sold on Rakuten Marketplace and it included NFTs referencing the sci-fi TV series Ultraman. Later, Rakuten planned to produce NFTs inspired by the famous shows of the Japanese television channel TV Asahi Corporation.

Japan has a population of over 126 million and a passion for pop culture, which could make Japan drive the adoption of cryptocurrencies and NFTs. In recent past NFTs are growing at an explosive rate in Japan. In March 2021, Japanese local exchange Coincheck launched their NFT marketplace. Now Rakuten launching it’s own NFT marketplace will further boost NFTs in Japan.
