Blockchain and cryptocurrency solutions company, Ripple, made the announcement today of a new office that will be located in Toronto and will serve as a key engineering hub.

Ripple is going to open its first office in Canada, which will support the company’s continued expansion throughout North America and beyond.

The company intends to start by recruiting fifty software engineers in the city of Toronto, with the long-term objective of recruiting hundreds of blockchain software engineers, in addition to applied machine learning scientists, data scientists, and product managers.

Although some of Ripple’s competitors in the industry have announced layoffs and hiring freezes, our top priority continues to be recruiting world-class talent who will assist us in innovating new products and better serving our clients in the years to come.

Ripple opened new offices in key cities all over the world in just the past year, including Miami and Dublin, and the company has plans to hire hundreds of people all over the world in 2022.

The opening of Ripple’s Toronto office further demonstrates the company’s commitment to a region that is already a well-known technology hub. Ripple is going to cultivate a culture of crypto innovation in Toronto by drawing from the local talent pool and recruiting top engineers.

Ripple has deep ties to the Toronto community thanks to its University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI) and its collaboration with prestigious educational institutions and colleges in the area, such as the University of Waterloo and the Toronto Metropolitan University. Together, Ripple and UBRI provide students with opportunities to acquire strong technical skills and support leading research in several key areas of blockchain and cryptocurrency technology.

Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple: “Nearly every financial institution is coming up with its crypto strategy to take advantage of this technology that will underpin our future global financial systems”.

The opening of the Toronto office further solidifies Ripple’s commitment to a region that is already a prominent tech hub.  Mayor of the City of Toronto John Tory says Ripple’s first-mover attitude will be a perfect fit for Toronto’s diverse, entrepreneurial, and committed spirit.
