Ripple continues to surprise the world with its cutting-edge development efforts.
The company has announced another breakthrough in developing a high-efficiency NFT support system for the XRPL. The XRPL is Ripple’s flagship Hyperledger capable of handling multiple connections with various entities.
In a recent tweet, the company announced that the development of the new support system is now complete. This follows a proposal called the XLS-20, which recommended enabling native NFT support on the ledger.

Testing Results To Be Posted For Public Scrutiny
To prove its mettle, the company also announced plans to post the testing results for everyone to analyze. This puts Ripple among the top blockchain technology companies that have taken coding to higher heights. A detailed description of the testing methodologies and the test results can be accessed here. The descriptions include the testing environment, screenshots of the running code, and the different workloads involved in the testing (XRP payments, NFT offers, NFT minting, and a mix of payments and offers).
The test involved measuring the NFT throughput by creating one million accounts. Each of these accounts was tasked with minting 20 NFTs, bringing the total to 20 million NFTs minted. To measure the throughput offer for each NFT was created and then accepted, making two transactions in the process. The workload was found to be handled within 751 seconds.
Another test was conducted by mixing XRP payments with NFT offers and their acceptance. This made 4 transactions, 2 XRP payments, and a pair of transactions for offer and acceptance. The workload took 1,064 seconds.
While the good news introduces high-level scaling solutions to the XRPL, it remains to be seen how the system will actually upon full deployment. Still, the Ripple community appears happy to welcome NFT support on the system.
As mentioned, XRP will be the native currency for buying or selling NFTs on the RXPL, which could significantly boost the coin’s capacity and adoption. XRP has also been adopted on RippleNet, where various financial institutions can initiate fast and chap cross-border funds transfer with XRP as the base currency. Ripple has also been at the forefront in support of the creation of CBDCs in Europe.
