Can You Pet The Dog is not happy about being tagged by Shiba Inu, lead developer Shytoshi Kusama.

In a scathing tweet on Friday, Can You Pet The Dog, a Twitter account created by Tristan Cooper, made it clear that it wants nothing to do with any crypto project, calling NFTs a “planet-burning scam.”

“To make this clear: I want nothing to do with any crypto project, even if your blockchain ‘game’ has a pettable dog in it. Peddle your planet-burning scam somewhere else,” Can You Pet The Dog wrote.

Notably, these statements come after Shiba Inu’s lead developer, Shytoshi Kusama, tagged the Twitter account created to catalog games that allow players to pet dogs in a tweet yesterday. The tweet in question reveals that players of Shiba Eternity would be able to pet their Shiboshis [dogs] within the game. However, it is clear that Can You Pet The Dog wants nothing to do with it.

It bears mentioning that while Can You Pet The Dog’s comments may not dampen the excitement of the Shiba Inu community, they could hurt the ability of Shiba Eternity to reach a wider dog-loving audience outside the crypto space. Can You Pet The Dog presently has 534,000 followers on Twitter.

It is worth noting that the Shiba Inu community has been anticipating the launch of the card collection game since its announcement in December last year in partnership with Australian game developers PlaySide Studios. Notably, on Thursday, developers made the game Shiba Eternity available for testing for iOS users in Vietnam with hints of doing the same in Indonesia next.

As reported by The Crypto Basic on Tuesday, leaked chats reveal that lead developer Shytoshi Kusama is excited about the game. According to the texts, Kusama believes the game will be strategic and offer new possibilities.

Meanwhile, Shiba Eternity is expected to be the first in a long line of exciting developments in the Shiba Inu ecosystem this year as the community moves to shed its meme coin tag. Notably, Gossip Shib speculates that Shibarium, the ecosystem’s Layer 2 blockchain solution, will have a beta launch sometime at the end of September.

Shiba Inu remains the 15th largest crypto asset by market cap and is trading at the $0.00001285 price point.
