With Ethereum Merge around the corner, cryptocurrency hardware wallet provider Trezor has assured its users that their ETH and ERC tokens will be safe during the exercise.

“The upcoming Ethereum Merge won’t impact Trezor users’ funds. You won’t need to do anything with your accounts, ETH, or ERC tokens.”

The hardware wallet provider advised users to remain calm during the exercise to not be a victim of any phishing campaign launched by bad actors to cart away unsuspecting victims’ funds.

“Please be cautious about possible phishing campaigns impersonating Trezor or other wallet companies. Never give your seed to anyone on the internet and don’t trust anyone but yourself and your device,” Trezor added.

Rationale Behind the Warning

Trezor feels the need to inform its users of possible antics hackers may use to steal their funds. Since Ethereum Merge is slated to go live between September 13 and September 15, some hackers may use the event as an opportunity to steal crypto investors’ funds.

Some of these malefactors pretend to be agents of prominent crypto wallets, offering to help traders conduct the upgrade from their end. They will sometimes ask potential victims to share their seed phrases with them for the exercise.

Sharing the details would grant the hacker remote access to the victim’s wallet, and the user’s funds would be stolen.

Meanwhile, Ethereum Merge is slated to go live around September 13 – 15, and the project team has already started moving towards the launch.

Earlier today, Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, said:
