Cardano founder Hoskinson addresses centralization concerns and the role of the Cardano MBO in ensuring the democratic governance of the platform.

In a recent Twitter exchange, Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, addressed concerns and misconceptions surrounding the Cardano Member-Based Organisation (MBO) and the platform’s decentralization efforts.

Responding to a comment from the crypto community members, Hoskinson expressed his commitment to ensuring the democratic nature of Cardano’s governance.

The conversation began when Upstream, a Cardano Stake Pool known for its community and sustainability focus, highlighted the importance of workshops providing a platform for community feedback on Cardano’s on-chain governance.

In response to Upstream’s tweet, a Twitter user voiced skepticism, suggesting that MBOs would ultimately control Cardano.

Charles Hoskinson promptly responded, stating his interest in a detailed explanation of how an MBO would possess ‘all the power,’ as the skeptic Twitter user projected.

Power Belongs to ADA Holders

Nonetheless, Hoskinson clarified that all roles with power would be elected by ADA holders, emphasizing that institutions like the MBO are to assist in executing the community’s will.

“[MBO is] another structure to assist in the execution of the will of ADA holders made up of members of the Cardano community for the Cardano community,” Hoskinson remarked.

Hoskinson also criticized those spreading cynical fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD) as an excuse to avoid participating in the governance process, attributing it to their reluctance rather than reflecting the effectiveness of Cardano’s governance.

Addressing concerns about on-chain governance, Upstream also reiterated the significance of the workshops, providing the community with an opportunity to voice their opinions and ensure their positions are heard.

Cardano Workshop

It is worth mentioning that Upstream organized a London-based Cardano CIP-1694, inviting individuals interested in shaping Cardano’s governance to participate.

The workshops aimed to foster constructive dialogue and gather valuable insights from the community, where participants could influence the future of Cardano’s on-chain governance. The workshop will hold this weekend.
