Members of the XRP community have been reacting to a new rumor regarding a potential settlement in the SEC v. Ripple lawsuit.

Yesterday, “XRP Captain,” a prominent XRP community member, shared a rumor about a settlement in the ongoing legal battle between the SEC and Ripple.

The rumors suggest that the SEC and Ripple will reach a settlement within seven days before the blockchain company’s Proper Party.

It bears mentioning that the Proper Party is an upcoming event being organized by Ripple to celebrate its partial victory against the SEC.

As reported earlier, the event is scheduled to take place on September 29, 2023, in New York. Since “XRP Captain” speculates that a settlement would happen a week before the victory party, any potential agreement could have been reached on September 22.

However, there has not been any official announcement regarding any settlement.

XRP Community Reacts

Expectedly, the new settlement rumor stirred reactions from XRP community members as they took to the X platform to react.

Reacting, an XRP enthusiast with the username @zayatos said he would organize a proper party at home if the rumor became factual.

However, the majority of XRP community members dispelled the rumor as false.

Not New

Since the SEC v. Ripple lawsuit began, several rumors have emerged about a settlement in the case. However, none of these rumors turned out to be accurate, as the legal battle continues to linger.

Last month, prominent XRP community member JackTheRippler tweeted that Ripple would announce a full settlement with the SEC during the victory party,

However, pro-XRP lawyer John Deaton debunked the rumor, saying there would be no announcement of a settlement at the party.

SEC & Ripple Yet to Comply With Court Order on Settlement Conference

Recall that after the court issued its highly-anticipated summary judgment in the case, it subsequently ordered the parties to select three dates for a possible settlement conference.

The parties are yet to comply with the directive. At the moment, the SEC is focused on appealing the court’s ruling on Ripple’s programmatic sales of XRP and other distributions.

Ripple, on the other hand, is focused on the upcoming trial involving two of its execs – Brad Garlinghouse and Chris Larsen.

It remains to be seen whether the parties will comply with the court’s order and select three dates for the settlement conference.
