Customers can now use Shiba Inu (SHIB) to pay for goods and services across 1,200 merchants following a partnership between Apcopay and CoinPayments.

According to a recent announcement, Apcopay has successfully integrated CoinPayments into its global payment service platform.

Following the integration, Apcopay customers can now pay for goods and services across more than 1,200 merchants in 25 countries using crypto assets like Shiba Inu.

Commenting on the development, Apcopay’s Chief Commercial Officer Daniel Buttigieg described CoinPayments as a prominent crypto player that accepts multiple digital assets.

Spending SHIB Via CoinPayments

Launched in 2013, CoinPayments offers both crypto payment and storage solutions. The company supports more than 2,300 crypto assets. Despite supporting a wide range of cryptocurrencies, only 175 crypto assets can be used to pay for goods and services.

Interestingly, Shiba Inu is among the few cryptocurrencies that CoinPayments supports for payment purposes. It is worth noting that Shiba Inu payments incur a fee of 1% on the CoinPayments gateway.

Widespread Adoption of Shiba Inu Payments

Apcopay’s collaboration with CoinPayments further expands the widespread adoption of SHIB as a payment method. Since its inception in 2020, SHIB has become one of the leading crypto payment methods among top merchants.

The growing demand for Shiba Inu has prompted top crypto payment providers to roll out support for the canine-themed token. Some payment providers supporting SHIB include Binance, BitPay, and NOWPayments, among others.

In addition, Shiba Inu enthusiasts can conveniently pay for goods and services across different merchants, including Gucci, NewEgg, AMC Theaters, Twitch, and GameStop.

Last year, Binance launched a product dubbed Send Cash to allow Shiba Inu enthusiasts to spend SHIB in nine Latin American countries, including Argentina.

Meanwhile, SHIB is still trading below the $0.00001 psychological level in the hours leading up to press time. SHIB price is down 0.59% over the last 24 hours to $0.00000955. Similarly, the token’s 24-hour trading volume has also plunged 22.5% to $144.74 million.
