Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, has been making waves in the crypto community with recent high-profile transactions.
His Ethereum address has shown increased activity, leading to speculation and discussion among observers. Earlier today, Buterin’s wallet executed a significant transfer of 3,000 ETH, valued at around $8.05 million, to a multi-signature wallet. According to the crypto surveillance Lookonchain, this transaction could potentially indicate a donation, though interpretations vary.
Significant Transfers and Wallet Activities
The transaction, recorded at 12:39:23 AM UTC, raised eyebrows as Lookonchain reported it as a possible donation. However, a critical voice emerged, arguing that all three signatories of the receiving wallet are linked to Buterin, suggesting this could be an internal reallocation rather than an outward donation.
Following this transaction, the receiving wallet now holds 3,000 ETH, with a value calculated at $7,907,204 based on the current Ethereum price of $2,635 per ETH. The wallet also contains a small amount of other tokens, valued at $118.02.
Notably, Buterin’s address continued its activity, later transferring 199.9 ETH, worth approximately $521,469.37, to a different address.
Contextualizing Historical Transfers
It is also important to note that on August 5, a wallet known as “Vb 3” transferred 3,000 ETH, approximately $7 million, to Buterin’s wallet. At the time, Buterin held 245,223 ETH, equating to $571.72 million.
These recent transactions follow a pattern of large Ethereum movements, with Wallet “Vb 3” previously transferring 1,001 ETH 184 days ago and 6,000 ETH 571 days ago. Each of these transactions is linked to Buterin’s address, suggesting a series of strategically timed transfers.
Buterin’s Recent Token Sale
In a separate event, Buterin recently conducted a notable sale of Neiro tokens. His wallet sold 17.15 billion Neiro in exchange for 44.53 ETH, valued at approximately $112,448, on Uniswap V2. This sale initially triggered a dip in Neiro’s value, although the market quickly rebounded with a 15% surge.
The Neiro team publicly responded to the sale, suggesting Buterin consider donating part of the proceeds to a stray dog shelter. They clarified that the distribution of Neiro tokens to Buterin was not an endorsement but rather a decision made by the original developer, who has since exited the project.
