Jake Gagain, a widely followed crypto commentator, has highlighted XRP among the top altcoins he is buying amid the recent market dip.
Most crypto assets are currently selling at steep discounts compared to the prices they sold for in January. The price drop came after Bitcoin crashed to $76K this week, its lowest price in four months.
Given that the bull market still has a few months left, market participants believe those buying at today’s low will reap profits during the next rebound.
Why Gagain is Buying XRP Now
In this context, Gagain shared his top picks that market participants should consider. Interestingly, XRP made the top spot on the list. At press time, XRP is trading at $2.23, having gained 16.15% from this week’s low of $1.92.
According to Gagain, XRP is worth buying now as the four-year-long Ripple lawsuit is about to end, and the news could drive XRP’s price. Today, news leaked that Ripple is negotiating favorable settlement terms with the SEC to finally put the protracted battle to rest.
Gagain believes the SEC dropping the Ripple case would set XRP bullish for the rest of 2025, not just in the short term.
Buying Solana After 62% Dip
Next on the list is Solana. Gagain is particularly bullish on Solana, given the massive discount at which it currently trades. Notably, Solana traded at an all-time high of $295 in January. However, it dropped to $112 this week, marking an astonishing 62% decrease from its all-time peak.
Given Solana’s prominence in the crypto space, he expects it to come back strong, making current lows a significant opportunity.
Other Top Altcoins
Meanwhile, Gagain is also bullish on Tron (TRX). He disclosed that he has been dollar-cost-averaging into TRX consistently.
According to him, Tron founder Justin Sun and U.S. President Donald Trump have a close relationship. He sees this as a positive factor for TRX, especially given Trump’s pro-crypto stance.
Moreover, Gagain cited TRX’s resilience during the recent market crash. He noted that while other coins have halved in price, TRX held up pretty well. For context, at $0.2200, TRX has only dipped 12% in the last 90 days, unlike Solana’s 62% loss.
Other prominent altcoins Gagain is buying include SUI and Ethereum. Notably, before the recent correction, SUI was one of the best performers, surpassing the $5 price in January. However, SUI is at $2.20 at press time, down 58% from its January all-time high.
Gagain sees the current price as a massive discount, especially as it’s a coin that Eric Trump, the U.S. President’s son, also holds. He also noted that it is one of the fastest-growing Layer 1s in the crypto industry.
Ethereum is a Steal
The last spot on Gagain’s list goes to Ethereum. Despite being Bitcoin’s closest rival, its price performance failed to mirror Bitcoin’s trajectory. Since January, Ethereum’s value plummeted by over 50%, while Bitcoin only dipped 30%. Moreover, at a floor price of $1,862, Ethereum is 62% below its all-time high, while Bitcoin is only 24% below its all-time high.
Nonetheless, Gagain believes Ethereum is a great buy at its current price, describing it as a steal.
