Bitcoin proponent Ian Carroll, the host of the Carroll Show, provides insights into his understanding of XRP, stating that he is still learning about the asset.
Carroll shared his views on XRP during a brief interview at the Bitcoin 2025 conference in Las Vegas. In an interview by Merlin Crypto, Carroll acknowledged that he is familiar with the buzz around XRP.
Despite being familiar with XRP, he disclosed that he had not conducted ‘deep-dive’ research, which could help him understand the coin’s use cases, tokenomics, and technology.
Not Invested in XRP
Notably, Carroll revealed that several XRP community members have long persuaded him to invest in XRP. However, he has not invested in XRP because he lacks sufficient knowledge about the coin.
Carroll expressed skepticism toward cryptocurrencies launched after Bitcoin, including XRP, emphasizing that he approaches them with scrutiny whenever he learns about them.
According to him, he is deliberate about where he spends his energy, especially when it comes to learning about certain crypto projects. In Carroll’s view, his primary motivation is not to make a profit from cryptocurrencies, indicating that he is not in just it for financial gain.

Current Learning Focus
Currently, his primary focus is on learning about the world’s two largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Although Bitcoin and Ethereum are currently his primary focus for learning, Carroll noted that he is also learning a bit about XRP along the way.
With Carroll still yet to fully understand XRP, the interviewer, Abdullah Nassif, aka Abs, weighed in and briefly explained the coin’s use case. Abs noted XRP’s core goal is to enable people to transfer money instantly and effortlessly, just as data moves today.
He emphasized that XRP aims to make transferring money as seamless as sending text messages to friends and family.
Carroll’s Support for Bitcoin
For context, Carroll has been a vocal supporter of Bitcoin, stating that the premier cryptocurrency is “inevitable.” He disclosed that he only owns Bitcoin and does not appear interested in owning other cryptocurrencies.
Bitcoin is inevitable.
— Ian Carroll (@IanCarrollShow) August 2, 2024
In an X post earlier this year, he promised to commit significant funds to Bitcoin and no other cryptocurrency. Despite being a Bitcoin bull, he encouraged his 1.2 million X followers to educate themselves about cryptos and make their own financial decisions.
As for him, Bitcoin remains his only focus. However, based on his recent interview, Carroll might be open to an updated perspective in his investment strategy.
