Arthur Britto, one of the original XRPL architects with an ambitious vision for XRP, has recently resurfaced after 13 years of silence.

Britto, a founder figure behind the XRP Ledger (XRPL), reappeared online on June 23, ending 13 years of silence with a single emoji post on X. This small gesture triggered speculation within the XRP community with renewed excitement around the future of Ripple.

Notably, Britto’s unexpected activity came as a surprise to many XRP proponents. Known for avoiding the spotlight since helping launch XRPL in 2012, he has earned a reputation as one of the most private figures in the crypto industry.

His sudden return raised questions about whether a major development could be underway at Ripple, possibly a long-rumored IPO or a new wave of blockchain innovation.

Community Reactions

Ripple’s Chief Technology Officer, David Schwartz, responded to Britto’s post humorously, reassuring users that the account had not been compromised. His confirmation only triggered more speculation.

Speaking on the development, crypto commentator CrediBULL pointed out that Britto hadn’t said a word publicly since XRPL’s launch.

He described Britto’s post as comparable to Bitcoin’s mysterious creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, suddenly returning after years of silence. CrediBULL noted that no public photos or interviews exist for Britto, confirming his private lifestyle.

Meanwhile, XRP community figure John Squire called attention to statements suggesting Britto had claimed XRP was designed to be worth $10,000. Squire noted that this wasn’t a price prediction, but a theoretical valuation if XRP became the backbone of global liquidity.

Speaking further, Squire connected Britto’s return with recent momentum in the XRP ecosystem, pointing to 1.5 million transactions processed within 24 hours, the highest in four months.

Squire argued that Britto doesn’t post without reason and suggested the timing could point to deeper moves within Ripple such as tech upgrades or partnerships. He pointed out that Britto’s post coincided with record on-chain volume and IPO chatter.

Arthur Britto’s Background at Ripple

For the uninitiated, Arthur Britto co-founded Ripple in 2012, working alongside Chris Larsen, Jed McCaleb, and David Schwartz

Together, they built the XRP Ledger to support fast, affordable, and scalable international payments. Britto played a major role in designing XRPL’s technical structure, focusing on making it capable of serving a global user base.

A resurfaced 2013 email from Britto, now circulating among XRP proponents, described his vision for XRP as a behind-the-scenes asset. Rather than gaining attention as a speculative token, he wanted it to quietly power global payments, especially for banks and large institutions.

Documents from 2012 reveal that Britto received 2% of XRP’s total supply, roughly 2 billion tokens at the time. Some reports now estimate that he holds about 1 billion XRP.

Britto has also been linked to Standard Custody & Trust Company, now known as Ripple Custody. The firm offers secure digital asset custody for institutions, though Britto’s role remains unclear.
