Scott Melker Questions Why Mainstream Investors Are So Focused on XRP.
Crypto market commentator Scott Melker, commonly known as Wolf of All Streets, has highlighted XRP’s growing presence in mainstream crypto discussions, questioning why the asset has become a specific focus for investors compared with Bitcoin and Ethereum.
The remarks came during a discussion with Tristan Thompson, who pointed to the strength and persistence of the XRP community in promoting XRP and defending its long-term prospects.
According to Thompson, XRP supporters have been particularly effective at communicating their conviction about the asset. He noted that dedicated XRP holders are often prepared to explain in detail why they remain committed to the crypto.
Melker then shifted the discussion toward a broader question surrounding XRP’s popularity.
“But that’s the question: why XRP? You know, how did it get so into the mainstream narrative that that’s even the question?”
Melker observed that people entering or following the crypto market are not necessarily asking whether they should buy Bitcoin or Ethereum. Instead, he said some are specifically asking about XRP.
“Your friends aren’t asking, like, ‘Is this a good time to buy Bitcoin and Ethereum?’ They’re specifically asking about XRP.”
Melker Says Mainstream Investors Have “Grabbed Onto XRP”
Melker emphasized that XRP appears to have captured significant attention outside the cryptocurrency industry’s more experienced investor base.
He said the mainstream audience has “really grabbed onto XRP,” while making clear that he was not arguing that investors should or should not be interested in the asset.
Rather, his question centered on how XRP managed to establish such a prominent position in mainstream cryptocurrency conversations.
“The mainstream has really grabbed onto XRP. I’m not saying they shouldn’t. I just say, I don’t know how that happened.”
Though Bitcoin remains the largest and most widely recognized cryptocurrency, while Ethereum has established itself as the leading smart-contract network, XRP continues to attract a highly engaged following and significant attention from both retail investors and the broader financial community.
XRP Community Remains a Major Force
Thompson’s comments suggest that XRP’s community could be one factor behind that visibility.
The XRP community has historically maintained a strong presence across social media platforms, where supporters regularly discuss developments surrounding XRP, Ripple, institutional adoption, regulation, and the broader XRP Ledger ecosystem.
Thompson characterized XRP supporters as highly committed, suggesting that conversations with dedicated XRP holders often involve strong arguments for why they continue holding the asset.
Melker’s remarks ultimately raise a broader question about XRP’s position within the crypto market: how a digital asset competing with much larger networks has managed to become one of the cryptocurrencies that mainstream investors specifically recognize and ask about.
For Melker, the notable development is not simply that investors are interested in XRP, but that XRP has become prominent enough that people are asking about it separately from Bitcoin and Ethereum.
