Web3 Founder Explains Why Cardano Remains on His Watchlist

Visionary WEB3 founder and Bitcoin OG Lucky has identified Cardano (ADA) as one of the altcoins he continues to monitor.

In a recent commentary, Lucky, who has supported Bitcoin since 2015, placed Cardano alongside Ethereum, Solana, Chainlink, Monero, Sui, and Bittensor (TAO), emphasizing that they are the altcoins on his radar.

Factors Fueling Lucky’s Decision

Rather than focusing on short-term price movements, Lucky highlighted developments that could influence Cardano’s long-term position in the cryptocurrency market.

Cardano Governance

Lucky specifically pointed to governance as one of the reasons ADA remains on his radar.

Cardano has increasingly moved toward community-led governance following the Chang hard fork. The framework gives community participants a greater role in decisions involving protocol upgrades, treasury spending, and the network’s future direction.

Earlier this year, the Cardano ecosystem reached another milestone when the community approved the Van Rossem hard fork, also known as Protocol Version 11. The upgrade marked the network’s first fully community-approved protocol upgrade.

Scaling Efforts

Lucky also highlighted scaling as another factor behind his continued interest in Cardano.

Notably, Cardano’s scaling roadmap includes Ouroboros Leios at the Layer-1 level and Hydra at Layer-2. Targeted for mainnet deployment in December 2026, Leios aims to significantly increase transaction throughput by enabling greater parallelization of network activity.

Meanwhile, Hydra focuses on faster and lower-cost transactions through Layer-2 infrastructure. The protocol also demonstrated its capacity during a Doom Tournament, where it reached 1 million transactions per second.

Together, these initiatives form part of Cardano’s broader effort to increase network capacity and throughput while maintaining its focus on security and decentralization.

Cardano’s Expanding Ecosystem

Lucky also pointed to Cardano’s long-term ecosystem development as another reason ADA remains on his watchlist.

The network continues to develop its governance infrastructure, scaling technologies, and broader application ecosystem as it seeks to expand utility across decentralized applications and on-chain finance.

At the same time, major Cardano stakeholders have promoted Midnight as a potential avenue for attracting new users through private smart contracts and selective disclosure capabilities.

Beyond Midnight, projects such as RealFi are also contributing to Cardano’s expanding DeFi landscape. RealFi is expected to launch on mainnet on October 1, while Cardano’s Bitcoin DeFi initiative aims to attract idle capital from the Bitcoin ecosystem to the network.

These developments could contribute to greater decentralized finance activity and potentially increase Cardano’s total value locked as the ecosystem expands.

Overall, Lucky’s commentary places Cardano among the altcoins he believes are worth monitoring based on its ongoing development.
