Hoskinson Says “I’m Not Accountable For Cardano Adoption,” Declares Founders Aren’t Slaves

Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, has pushed back against criticism that he should be responsible for driving adoption and delivering measurable growth across the Cardano ecosystem.

The clarification followed comments from a market commentator who criticized Hoskinson and argued that Cardano’s leadership should focus less on issues outside its core expertise and instead prioritize adoption, developer activity, scalability, liquidity, and real-world usage.

Hoskinson Rejects Responsibility for Cardano Adoption

Responding to the criticism, Hoskinson emphasized that Cardano operates as a decentralized network and that he does not hold an official leadership position within the blockchain.

“I am not accountable for Cardano adoption,” he remarked.

He further argued that some members of the community are misunderstanding his relationship with Cardano, suggesting that founders are not slaves.

Meanwhile, he also rejected the characterization of him as Cardano’s chief executive officer. In a separate response to a community member who referred to him as the CEO, he clarified that he serves as the CEO of Input Output Global (IOG), rather than Cardano.

For context, IOG is the blockchain research and engineering company founded by Hoskinson and has played a major role in developing Cardano.

Growing Frustration Over ADA Performance

The exchange comes as some members of the Cardano community continue to express frustration over ADA’s performance and question whether they regret investing in the cryptocurrency.

ADA has declined substantially from its September 2021 all-time high of $3.10. At around $0.2491, the token remains roughly 92% below that peak, reinforcing concerns among some long-term holders.

Moreover, Hoskinson has previously acknowledged the financial impact of ADA’s decline, disclosing losses to the tune of $3 billion.

Hoskinson Remains Optimistic About Cardano

Despite distancing himself from direct responsibility for Cardano’s adoption, Hoskinson continues to discuss the ecosystem’s long-term prospects.

He has previously said that ADA could rank among the top 10 crypto assets before the year comes to an end, and has expressed optimism about the network’s future.

His outlook partly centers on ongoing developments across the Cardano ecosystem, including Ouroboros Leios and RealFi. Consequently, while Hoskinson says he is not responsible for driving Cardano adoption, he remains an active and influential voice in discussions surrounding the network’s development and future.
