MANTRA Targets Aug. 21 Mainnet Restart After Security Incident 

MANTRA Chain remains offline following a security incident. However, the project has identified a vulnerability and is testing a patched software release, with a mainnet restart targeted for later on Aug. 21.

The project said version 8.4.0 addresses the underlying vulnerability and is undergoing testing and due diligence on its DuKong testnet. A coordinated mainnet upgrade and restart is planned for later Friday, although MANTRA cautioned that the timing depends on the successful completion of testing. 

Transactions, transfers and staking operations remain unavailable while the Layer 1 blockchain is paused. MANTRA said user funds are unaffected by the halt itself and that it took a full snapshot of the network state before beginning the restart process. 

The team has instructed validators to keep their mainnet nodes offline until it announces the coordinated restart. 

The disruption has also prompted action from South Korean crypto exchanges. Bithumb designated MANTRA as a trading warning asset on Aug. 21, while deposits and withdrawals remain suspended. The exchange said an announcement on whether the warning will be extended, lifted, or followed by the termination of trading support is expected between Sept. 14 and Sept. 18. 

MANTRA operates a Layer 1 blockchain focused on tokenized real-world assets (RWAs). Its token suffered a sharp collapse in April 2025, losing roughly 90% of its value during a rapid sell-off.
