Japanese logistics company AZ-COM Maruwa plans to begin paying roughly 2,300 partner carriers and independent drivers with the yen-backed stablecoin JPYC, Nikkei reported. The initiative is expected to represent the first large-scale corporate deployment of JPYC in Japan.
The payment program forms part of the company’s broader push to incorporate digital payment infrastructure into its operations. By adopting JPYC for settlements with delivery partners, AZ-COM Maruwa would become an early corporate user of the stablecoin at scale.
In addition to the payment rollout, the company intends to invest ¥1 billion in JPYC and enter into a business alliance with the stablecoin’s issuer, according to the report.
