Binance Founder CZ Warns Trezor Data Breach Could Raise Phishing and Physical Security Risks

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, also known as CZ, warned that a data breach involving Trezor’s shipping provider could expose affected customers to phishing, social engineering, and physical security risks.

In particular, the breach affected about 13,700 recent Trezor customers, including roughly 11,700 whose full names, phone numbers, email addresses, and shipping addresses were exposed. 

Trezor’s systems and private keys were not compromised. The security concern stems instead from personal information that could identify individuals as cryptocurrency holders and reveal their physical addresses. 

Zhao also cited the incident while discussing differences in the risk profiles of hardware wallets and software self-custody wallets.
