Bitcoin Hits $72,000 as $3.07 Billion in Crypto Shorts Are Liquidated

Bitcoin hit $72,000, rising 11.4% over the past 24 hours, while Ethereum jumped 19.1% to $2,300, according to CoinGecko data.

The rally triggered $3.34 billion in crypto liquidations over the same period, including $3.07 billion in short positions, CoinGlass data showed. A total of 188,785 traders were liquidated. 

The largest single liquidation was a $48.80 million BTCUSD perpetual position on Hyperliquid. In the past hour, $89.35 million in positions were liquidated, including $77.23 million in shorts.
