The transaction comes after BitMEX confirmed that its exchange will close on Sept. 23, 2026, at 04:00 UTC. The exchange said all customer assets remain secure but instructed users to withdraw their funds before the closure. Even after the closure, users will still be able to access their accounts to view balances and historical transaction information and withdraw their assets.

According to the company’s announcement, KYC-verified accounts that retain balances after the closure deadline will incur a monthly account fee based on the greater of USD 50 (or its equivalent) or an annual rate of 1% applied to the remaining balance. BitMEX urged customers to access their accounts and remove their assets before the deadline.
