A wallet linked to Bitminter founder Geir Harald Hansen transferred 829 Bitcoin, according to crypto analyst Emmett Gallic, who cited blockchain data from Arkham. Part of the transferred holdings had remained inactive for approximately eight years.
Hansen founded Bitminter, one of Bitcoin’s earliest mining pools. At its peak, the pool accounted for nearly 10% of the network’s total mining power and mined 208,232 BTC.
The transaction occurred while Bitcoin traded below $65,000. At the time of writing, the cryptocurrency was changing hands at $64,549, down 1.7% over the past seven days, according to CoinGecko.
