Cardano Launches Van Rossem Hard Fork After Landmark On-Chain Governance Approval

Cardano has completed the Van Rossem hard fork, bringing Protocol Version 11 into effect after the proposal received approval through the blockchain’s on-chain governance process. The milestone represents the first network upgrade authorized entirely by the community’s governance mechanism.

With Protocol Version 11 now live, the update expands Plutus functionality and revises the network’s execution cost model to improve smart contract efficiency. It also prepares the blockchain’s infrastructure for the transition to the next development phase, known as the Dijkstra era.
