CME Group CEO Terry Duffy said the exchange operator wants to introduce 24/7 oil trading in the United States as decentralized finance markets increasingly influence traditional finance.
Speaking at a Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) meeting, Duffy pointed to markets on platforms such as Hyperliquid, saying they can affect traditional financial markets even when they are not legal for U.S. participants.
Duffy said users can access such markets through virtual private networks, or VPNs, despite restrictions on U.S. participation.
He said he expects round-the-clock trading to become standard across financial markets.
