Coinbase has moved Deribit to the core execution technology that also powers Coinbase International Exchange, deploying a new matching engine as part of the change.
The system can process more than 100,000 orders per second while completing matches in under one millisecond.
Coinbase is also changing how it processes orders for certain instruments. Aggressive orders in those markets will face brief delays, giving liquidity providers additional time to update their quotes during rapid market moves.
The company expects to transfer its entire perpetual futures offering to the new engine later this year.
