Optimism Projects 343 Million OP to Enter Circulation in 2026-27

The Optimism Foundation expects about 343 million OP tokens to enter circulation during its fifth year, running from May 2026 through April 2027, according to its annual budget update and outlook.

Of the OP expected to enter circulation, 200 million will come from the Ecosystem Fund. Early Core Contributors account for another 47.6 million OP, while 15.3 million OP is allocated to investors.

Circulating supply is expected to reach 2.504 billion OP by the end of the period, equivalent to 58.3% of the token’s total supply.

The Foundation said the tokens are part of Optimism’s original allocation framework and that it has not requested any new token allocation.

OP was trading at $0.08887 at the time of the update, up 1.3% over the previous 24 hours. The token has fallen 86.8% over the past year and is 98.2% below its record high of $4.84, reached on March 6, 2024.
