Plume Network and Shinhan Asset Management will examine how a South Korean won-denominated investment fund could operate on-chain under a new proof-of-concept agreement, with the trial focused on regulatory and technical feasibility rather than offering the product to investors.
The planned test will use a fund tied to KRW ultra-short-term bonds as its underlying asset. The companies have formalized the collaboration through a memorandum of understanding (MOU).
No issuance or distribution will take place during the proof of concept. Instead, the project is designed to determine the requirements that must be met for the fund structure to be represented on-chain.
The trial will be conducted in an isolated setting in a third jurisdiction. Korean residents will be prevented from accessing it through contractual restrictions and technical controls.
