A crypto trader identified as “0x7173” missed more than $2 million in potential gains after selling nearly 20 million PONS tokens shortly after buying them.
The trader spent 0.25 ETH, valued at about $610 at the time, to acquire 19.98 million PONS. The trader later sold the tokens for 0.47 ETH, or roughly $1,166, for a profit of about $556.
The same 19.98 million tokens are now valued at approximately $2.2 million, according to the blockchain analytics platform Lookonchain.
PONS serves as the utility asset for a self-custody token-launch platform built on Robinhood Chain, allowing anyone to issue and exchange tokens with predetermined supplies without writing code.
The launchpad uses a bonding curve for initial token price discovery. Tokens that graduate from that process move into a Uniswap v4 pool where liquidity is permanently locked.
Protocol fees also feed into the PONS token model. Under the project’s mechanism, 80% of that revenue goes toward automated PONS buybacks and burns.
