Pump.fun co-founder Noah Tweedale said the project underestimated the importance of communicating with its community as PUMP prices declined, arguing that weakening prices and investor skepticism fed into each other even as the team continued building.
Speaking in an interview with Crypto Banter, Tweedale said doubts over the authenticity of the project’s revenue emerged as the token fell. Those concerns then added further pressure on PUMP, creating what he described as a self-reinforcing negative loop.
The team maintained its long-term development efforts during the downturn, according to Tweedale, but pulled back from social media communication after raising funds. He acknowledged that the decision was a mistake and said the market priced it negatively.
Tweedale also questioned whether the level of communication expected from Pump.fun was consistent with standards applied elsewhere in the crypto industry. He pointed to Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, saying Zhao does not provide weekly updates on BNB’s progress, and cited Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong as another executive who may communicate publicly less often than the Pump.fun team was expected to at the time.
PUMP was trading at $0.002886 at the time of this writing, 24% lower over the past year and 67.3% below its Sept. 14, 2025 all-time high of $0.008819.
