Strategy has established the Bitcoin Security Consortium with support from Coinbase, BlackRock, Anchorage, Galaxy, ARK Invest, Block, Blockstream, and Digital Asset, as the group commits $15 million over the next three years to strengthen Bitcoin security research.Â
The consortium’s first initiative will examine the long-term implications of quantum computing for Bitcoin’s cryptography, an area viewed as a potential future challenge for the network.
The group said its role will be limited to funding and supporting independent developers and researchers rather than influencing Bitcoin’s protocol or governance, leaving technical decisions to the existing open-source community.
