U.S. President Donald Trump urged Congress to pass what he called a fair version of the CLARITY Act while highlighting his administration’s efforts to expand the use of digital assets and blockchain technology in U.S. financial markets.
Speaking at a White House event with finance, crypto, and technology industry leaders, Trump said passage of the legislation would help keep the United States ahead in financial innovation and enable further development in the sector.
Trump also highlighted “Project Crypto,” an initiative aimed at modernizing rules to allow U.S. financial markets to move onto blockchain technology, as well as the establishment of the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, under which Bitcoin is held as a permanent U.S. Treasury asset.
The president pointed to the GENIUS Act as another part of his administration’s digital-asset agenda, saying the law had paved the way for broader adoption of dollar-backed stablecoins. Trump joked that he had named the legislation after himself without using his actual name.
The CLARITY Act, which addresses digital-asset market structure and regulation, has passed the U.S. House of Representatives and remains under consideration in the Senate.
