UAE national security adviser Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed al Nahyan and co-investors own 49% of the holding company behind World Liberty Financial’s planned national trust bank, The Wall Street Journal reported.

StringZ Holding RSC serves as the vehicle for the WLTC Holdings stake, while a Trump family-affiliated entity owns about 38%, the report said.

The ownership disclosure comes as World Liberty moves forward with plans for a national trust bank focused on its USD1 stablecoin. The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) granted the venture preliminary conditional approval this month to establish the bank, which would handle the issuance, redemption, and safeguarding of USD1.

However, the regulatory clearance does not yet allow the bank to begin operations. World Liberty must fulfill the OCC’s conditions and clear a final examination before receiving permission to open.

Sheikh Tahnoon and other investors also hold a substantial interest in World Liberty Financial itself after investing $500 million in January 2025 for a 49% stake in the company.
