The combined circulating supply of USDT and USDC increased by about $1.7 billion in August 2026, reversing three consecutive months of contraction, according to data compiled by WuBlockchain.
Previously, the supply of the two stablecoins had declined by roughly $2.6 billion in May, $6 billion in June, and $2.2 billion in July.
However, the August increase remains below levels recorded during earlier periods of stronger stablecoin expansion. Monthly growth exceeded $18 billion in 2021 and again in late 2024, while increases frequently ranged between $8 billion and $12 billion during the 2025 bull market, according to historical data cited by WuBlockchain.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin has recovered from around $60,000 to nearly $80,000, while USDT and USDC supply growth has remained comparatively limited.
WuBlockchain’s analysis identified monthly stablecoin supply growth above $10 billion as a key historical threshold for stronger liquidity expansion. By comparison, August’s $1.7 billion increase remains well below levels seen during previous bull markets.
