Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said on Tuesday he will convert proceeds from the digital auction of the first ever tweet on the platform to Bitcoin for charity.
“just setting up my twttr”-the first ever tweet went live for sale after Dorsey listed it as a unique digital signature on a website for selling tweets as non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey announced that he will convert the money into Bitcoin that he will receive in exchange form the sale of non-fungible token (NFT), which he put up for sale last week. Those BTC will then be donated to GiveDirectly’s Africa campaign.
Dorsey, received bids for his NFT from many names, including Tron CEO Justin Sun.

The money from the sale of the NFT will be used to buy Bitcoins “immediately”. Dorsey will donate the BTC to GiveDirectly to support poor families affected by Covid-19 in East Africa.
GiveDirectly, which has organized a special campaign for these families, collected $119.6 million of its targeted $125 million donation.
