Facebook may create products and services related to Non-Fungible-Tokens (NFTs).
David Marcus, the head of F2 (Facebook Financial), and Novi cryptocurrency wallet division said Tuesday, that Facebook was exploring the possibility to create products and services related to non-fungible tokens. Markus said at the same time that he is unsure about the use of Bitcoin for transactions.
Marcus spoke about possible developments with Bloomberg in a video interview.
He said:
“We’re definitely looking at the number of ways to get involved in the space because we think we’re in a really good position to do so,”
Markus heads Facebook Financial (F2) which is the internal group of company responsible for building Facebook digital wallet Novi that can be used to store NFTs.
He said:
“When you have a good crypto wallet, like Novi will be, you also have to think about how to help consumers support NFTs.”
Marcus, did not exactly mentioned about the timeline at which Facebook intends to roll out its NFTs products.
“This area is worth exploring, and it has the potential to have a positive effect on both consumers and creators.”
Markus stated that the Facebook digital wallet, Novi is ready. The company, however, is still waiting for its launch along with the launch of its stablecoin Diem (previously known as Libra).
