In a recently published letter to Video creators, the video-sharing platform YouTube’s CEO Susan Wojcicki suggested the company is discovering the ways for NFT integration on its website. In this way, the company will add a new source of revenue for its creators.
“We’re always focused on expanding the YouTube ecosystem to help creators capitalize on emerging technologies, including things like NFTs, while continuing to strengthen and enhance the experiences creators and fans have on YouTube,” the letter reads.
Wojcicki said YouTube is looking to Web3 “as a source of inspiration,” specifically noting the opportunities with crypto, decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), and NFTs.
However, a tech giant hasn’t revealed any additional details on what NFT features could look like at the company.
The announcement comes after an American microblogging and social networking service, Twitter, launched its First NFT feature by adding support for NFT Profile Pictures. The feature lets creators set an NFT as a Hexa-shaped profile picture which, when clicked, will allow others to learn more about the art.
Last week, Financial Times reported that the teams at Facebook and Instagram are also looking to add a feature similar to the one Twitter offers and are working on a particular part that would let users create and sell NFTs.
