Canadian SailGP Team to Leverage Blockchain to Reach Its Goals Via Partnership With Algorand Foundation.
A leading sporting organization, the Canadian SailGP Team, has announced a strategic partnership with blockchain project Algorand Foundation, a move designed to promote a brighter future for the planet through sports activities.
According to a press release today, the three-year partnership is established as the parties share a similar vision of promoting a sustainable future using the nascent technology, blockchain.
Notably, the partnership marks the first blockchain collaboration in professional sailing.
SailGP Taps Blockchain via Algorand
Fred Pye, founder of Canada’s SailGP Team, noted that the organization’s combination of sports and technology makes it uniquely positioned to develop a platform to support the growth of digital assets.
“The Canada SailGP Team is leading the development in this space, and I’m confident that we will be the first team in the league, perhaps in all of professional sailing, to showcase the possibilities of blockchain,” Pye added.
Pye, who is a lifelong sailor and digital technology entrepreneur, noted that the organization has chosen the Algorand Foundation to enable it to achieve its goal in the near future.
Reacting to the development, Staci Warden, CEO of the Algorand Foundation, disclosed his excitement at entering into a partnership with the Canadian SailGP Team, adding that the blockchain company is confident that its technology will come in handy in helping SailGP reach its objectives.
“We look forward to collaborating with the team on a range of initiatives that will showcase the unique mix of performance, security and sustainability that mark out Algorand as a unique blockchain,” Warden added.
Canada’s SailGP Team is focused on inspiring the next generation of sailors in Canada and creating new opportunities for young people to enter into sports in order to enable them to become exceptional athletes.

Meanwhile, Algorand has been dedicated to the objective of allowing everyone to harness the potential of blockchain technology by leveraging the power of the Algorand Protocol.
