While the attention of several cryptocurrency investors is stuck only on popular blockchains such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, etc., other networks have been silently recording significant milestones.

Optimism’s Groundbreaking Achievements in One Year

Optimism, an Ethereum Layer-2 blockchain that offers low-cost and fast transactions, has published some of its groundbreaking achievements recorded over the past year since the launch of its mainnet.

According to the Ethereum side-chain, since the network’s mainnet launched, it has seen over 300,000 unique addresses created on the platform.

Optimism, which focuses on providing fast and cheap transactions for its growing user base, said it has saved over $1.1 billion in gas fees.

Mitigating transaction costs on Optimism has contributed to luring more users into using the network, as the project developer noted that it has processed more than $17.4 billion worth of transactions since its mainnet went live.

More than 6,800 smart contracts have been deployed on Optimism over the course of a year.

Helping users to reduce the cost of gas fees did not in any way affect Optimism’s revenue, instead more users flocked to the platform and contributed to helping the project’s team generate a whopping $24.5 million in revenue.

Optimism Records Other Milestones

Aside from the successes recorded on the network, Optimism has also grown in terms of its operations. The company announced an increase in the number of its employees, which are currently above 40 people, who are strategically located across different parts of the world.

The project added that it successfully raised $175 million in a funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and Paradigm.

“The network has grown by leaps and bounds, and it’s only getting better by the day. Our baby has learned to walk, and it’s nearly time to run. We’re nearing the end of a chapter and the beginning of the next––one driven by community ownership and governance,” Optimism noted in a blog post.

As reported, Optimism also ranked among the top blockchains like Polygon, Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, etc., with the most active addresses in March 2022.
