Billy Markus drops another shocking revelation as he reveals that he is no longer working on the Dogecoin project.
In what came as a shock to many enthusiasts, Billy Markus, the co-founder of Dogecoin (DOGE), has disclosed that he is no longer on the team developing the world’s largest memecoin.
Markus made the revelation today on microblogging platform Twitter in a bid to inform his new followers, whom he believes are prompted to follow his account because they are under the notion that he is one of the lead developers of the memecoin.
The outspoken Dogecoin founder said he has not worked on the project for nearly eight years as he has been focused on helping people see the entire cryptocurrency market in its real nature.
“Since a lot of new people follow me, I wanna make some things clear:
– I don’t work on dogecoin anymore, i haven’t for 7.5 years, and i won’t ever again
– One goal here is just to help people see the crypto market for what it is. doing so in an amusing way is a bonus,” Markus noted on Twitter.

Markus Focuses on the Entire Crypto Market
With Markus not working on the Dogecoin project for seven and a half years, he said he has channeled his energy to helping people see the cryptocurrency market for what it really is, in order to have the perfect understanding.
His tutoring of the cryptocurrency market is focused on “why [the market is] a blend of hopium, [fear of missing out], panic, scams, hype, irrationality, gambling, and silliness, with a small dash of utility sprinkled around.”

This comes less than a week after Markus said 95% of cryptocurrency projects in the market are garbage and scams with no real utility. The statement sparked a heated debate on Twitter, with members of the cryptocurrency community weighing in on the topic.
Markus Still Committed to Dogecoin Despite Recent Statement
Despite not working on Dogecoin for nearly eight years, Markus said the memecoin is in a better and healthier place than it was a few years back.
He applauded developers who have continued to release significant projects to the Dogecoin’s ecosystem as part of efforts to promote widespread adoption of the coin.
Although Markus may not be working on Dogecoin as claimed, he has not stopped defending the cryptocurrency from illicit actors as well as promoting its widespread adoption.
Markus is one of the pioneers pushing for Dogecoin to be added to Twitter’s Tipping Jar service, which he believes will bolster adoption of the coin.
