Charles Hoskinson Picks His 2021 and 2022 Most Defining Cardano (ADA) Moment

The Cardano founder had no issue choosing his stand-out moments for 2021 and this year.

Cardano has continued to introduce significant upgrades and features since it was launched in 2017 that it would be difficult for users to select their favorite stand-out moment.

While members of the Cardano community will have a tough time choosing what their last year’s stand-out moment was, Charles Hoskinson, the founder of the blockchain project, does not seem to be facing that challenge.

For Hoskinson, the Alonzo Hard Fork remains his stand-out moment from last year. “The Alonzo hard fork for sure,” Hoskinson was quoted as saying in his interview with City AM.

Alonzo Feature

The Alonzo upgrade introduced significant features to Cardano, which ushered the network into the realm of smart contract compatibility. Alonzo fused two most important features of the two largest cryptocurrencies – Bitcoin’s UTXO model and Ethereum’s smart contract functionality.

Following the fusion of the two important features, Cardano was able to offer increased scalability while also maintaining maximum security.

Vasil Upcoming Features

Interestingly, despite the fact that the second phase of the year just started, Hoskinson has already weighed up his most defining moment for the whole of 2022 and it is no other but the Vasil Hard Fork.

“It’s always difficult to define one key moment but the Vasil hard fork is pretty significant,” Hoskinson said.

Hoskinson considers Vasil the most complex Hard Fork the blockchain Cardano team has made since its inception.

While the upgrade was originally scheduled to launch by June 2022, it was later rescheduled to go live later this month. Vasil Hard Fork is already live on Cardano testnet and the mainnet deployment is set for later this month.

Vasil is tipped to improve on key features including smart contract functionality, speed, and scalability, among others.

Cardano Is Always Focused on the Future

Cardano has always tried to be different from what is considered the norm in the cryptocurrency and blockchain community. For instance, while most cryptocurrency projects are overwhelmed with their present status, Cardano’s lead developer, Input Output Global (IOG), is always focused on the next big moves that would usher in significant improvements to the network.

Hoskinson has already highlighted what the blockchain will focus on by next year. In an interview with London’s most-read newspaper City AM, Hoskinson said while the development arm of Cardano is generally focused on boosting Cardano’s performance to increase its adoption in 2022, the project will focus more on governance by next year.

Hoskinson added that the fact Cardano will concentrate more on governance next year does not mean it will also not improve the overall blockchain’s performance.
