The partnership was made possible through a sponsorship deal between Napoli and Dunamu, the South Korean firm operating UpBit.

UpBit, South Korea’s largest exchange by trade volume, is the new back-of-shirt partner of prominent Italian football club S. S. C. Napoli. The partnership is a product of the recent sponsorship deal between the football club and Dunamu, the South Korean FinTech company in charge of UpBit.

In addition to being Napoli’s back-of-shirt partner, UpBit will serve as the club’s official global cryptocurrency exchange partner, Napoli disclosed in a recent press release. Both partnerships will endure for the 2022/23 and 2023/24 sessions across all competitions, including Serie A, Coppa Italia, and friendly matches. According to Napoli, the move will take effect from tomorrow, when the club will face Inter Milan in a Serie A match at 19:45 (UTC).

The recent partnership is one of the first collaborations between the crypto industry and the footballing scene in 2023, following a series of similar partnerships last year. Napoli acknowledged the significance of the partnership with Dunamu and its role in expediting the club’s mission to establish a firm fan base in South Korea. The club already signed South Korean defender Kim Min-jae last year.

“We’re thrilled to have reached this agreement with the South Korean company Dunamu, a leader in its sector and a growing company in the Asian market,”Tommaso Bianchini, Chief International Development Officer at Napoli, remarked. “This partnership enshrines the union of two game-changers in their respective sectors, underlining the objective of a future vision where innovation and technology are at the heart of the project.”

Speaking on the development, Dunamu Chief Executive Sirgoo Lee expressed the firm’s delight in inking the recent partnership with Napoli, as he acknowledged the club’s prestige in the footballing scene. “We’re thankful for the warmest welcome and are thrilled to be a part of the journey together with SSC Napoli, including star defender Kim Minjae. We look forward to finding more meaningful collaborations throughout the season,” Lee added.

Collaborations between the Crypto and Football Industries

The cryptocurrency industry and the football sector have recently enjoyed numerous mutually beneficial collaborations. Last month, reports suggested that Binance is in the race to replace DigitalBits as Inter Milan’s main shirt sponsor. This was after the exchange inked a multi-year partnership with S. S. Lazio, another Italian football club.
