Turkey accounts for the most Google searches for “Shiba Inu coin” in the past three months.
Shiba Inu (SHIB) has been attracting global attention of late, but data suggests that investors in Turkey might be showing the greatest level of interest in the asset. SHIB is among the most popular crypto assets in the transcontinental country, overshadowing assets such as Ethereum (ETH) and Cardano (ADA).
Google Trends data suggests that residents of Turkey account for the most Google searches for “Shiba Inu coin” in the past three months, taking up a huge chunk of the market share, with a value of 100. A value of 100 on Google Trends data suggests peak popularity for the asset in a particular region.
North Macedonia comes second on the list while Nigeria and Pakistan secure third and fourth positions. Notably, the United States is positioned fifth in terms of Google searches for the asset, with popularity less than half of what is observed in Turkey. This underscores a growing interest in the asset among Turkish investors.
Moreover, data from Google Trends reveals that SHIB completely dominates in popularity among several altcoins, overshadowing assets such as Ethereum, Cardano, and Solana. Searches for Shiba Inu in Turkey have been overwhelmingly greater than searches for most other altcoins in the past 12 months.
Shiba Inu Trade Volume
In addition, Shiba Inu’s trade volume in Turkish lira (TRY) suggests that the asset is one of the most popular crypto assets among investors in Turkey. The asset boasts a 24-hour trade volume of $5.6 million against the Turkish lira on Binance.
For context, ETH has a trading volume of $4.8 million against the lira, while XRP and ADA respectively have $1.8 million and $954K on Binance. Only Dogecoin’s volume rivals Shiba Inu’s among the top altcoins, as the asset is also witnessing a 24-hour volume of $5.6 million against the lira on Binance.
Turkey’s interest in cryptocurrencies saw a remarkable increase following the disaster that plagued the country in February. The crypto community rallied in support of the victims. Shytoshi Kusama, Shiba Inu’s lead developer, called on proponents to put up organizations that accept SHIB so the community can make donations.
