Ex-ETH Advisor Exhumes Vitalik Comments XRP is “Better Sound Money than Bitcoin”

Date:

The XRP Army has unearthed a dated complimentary statement from one of the founders of the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain regarding XRP.

In a recent tweet, Steven Nerayoff, a former Ethereum advisor and a notable member of the XRP Army, resurfaced a post where Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin gave positive remarks about XRP.

Nerayoff claims Buterin ‘secretly’ longs to be a member of the XRP Army, but he is too shy to proclaim it publicly. Notably, Nerayoff’s sentiment stems from the fact that Buterin has since deleted the remark he showered on XRP. However, traces of the statement remain in the public domain.

“Turns out Vitalik Buterin, aka CryptoJudas, secretly wants to be XRP, but he’s so shy he deleted his tweet which is in this article…,” Nerayoff remarked.

Similarly, prominent XRP influencer Crypto Eri spotlighted Buterin’s positive commentary about XRP, stating, “Not a surprise.”

Buterin: XRP Is “Better Sound Money than Bitcoin”

In 2019, Pierre Rochard, the VP of Research at Bitcoin mining company Riot Platforms, took to Twitter (now X) to express his view on the ideal stablecoin and store of value. Rochard shared that Bitcoin exemplified these qualities, emphasizing that it represented the pinnacle of sound money.

However, Vitalik Buterin responded to Rochard’s perspective by suggesting an alternative. Buterin proposed that XRP might be a more suitable choice. Specifically, he stated that the price chart for XRP/XRP would exhibit similar sound money characteristics to Bitcoin.

Moreover, he argued that XRP’s winning advantages lay in its institutional adoption and partnerships within the crypto industry, making it a more compelling option. In his words, as captured in this screenshot below:

“The chart for XRP/XRP would look the same, so it’s also sound money. But they have institutional adoption and partnerships. So they’re better.”

Meanwhile, some have argued that Buterin did not intend to commend XRP. According to them, his remark was sarcasm, given the presence of the trademark letters he attached to “institutional adoption” and “partnerships.” However, this remains speculative.

Buterin and the XRP community has continued to be at loggerheads since the Ethereum founder claimed that Ripple does not deserve support against the SEC because they tried to throw Ethereum under the bus as “Chinese-controlled.” In a video that surfaced last year, Buterin alleged that XRP is centralized.
