Shiba Inu lead developer Shytoshi Kusama introduces *SHIB Name Token, a solution that will act as multichain, cross-platform usernames.

Shytoshi Kusama, the pseudonymous lead developer of the Shiba Inu ecosystem, has unveiled a vision to create a new form of digital identity for crypto enthusiasts.

Simplifying Crypto-Related Transactions

In a recent thread on the X platform, the Shiba Inu lead emphasized the need to simplify crypto-related transactions for the average user.

Notably, Kusama criticized the complexities surrounding the existing wallet structures, which consist of long and alphanumeric addresses that may sometimes be prone to errors and phishing attacks.

To address this complexity, Kusama proposed a simpler and more user-friendly alternative dubbed the *SHIB Name Token, which aims to make sending and receiving multiple crypto assets easier.

“One Name Token to replace all of your wallet addresses, making it easier to send and receive hundreds of different digital assets. No more complications, just *shib,” he noted.

The *SHIB Name Token solution is part of Shiba Inu’s collaborative effort with popular domain name startup D3 Global.

*SHIB Name Token: A Username Across Multiple Web3 Platforms

According to Kusama, the solution will serve as a multichain, cross-platform username to help crypto enthusiasts enjoy a seamless web3 journey.

Beyond simplifying crypto-related transactions, Kusama also pointed out that *SHIB Name Token could become a universal username across various Web 3.0 platforms, including games, decentralized applications, social media, and decentralized finance services

Making *SHIB Name Tokens serve as a singular identity across these platforms will pave the way for a more user-friendly experience for everyone, including non-tech savvy.

Shiba Inu Seeks Top-Level Domain

It is worth mentioning that the move aligns with Shiba Inu’s quest to own a decentralized top-level domain (TLD), allowing crypto users to register their own unique *SHIB names. As reported earlier, Shiba Inu has already partnered with D3 Global for the initiative.

Owning a TLD is a challenging task, as it requires applicants to seek approval from the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

Shiba Inu and D3 plan to apply for the domain in the next ICANN application window. However,  users can pre-register for early access to help them secure their unique *SHIB name before anyone.

Upon completing the pre-registration processes, users will be notified when the main registration procedure commences.
