Pro-XRP attorney John Deaton is considering running as a Republican against anti-crypto Senator Elizabeth Warren in this year’s U.S. Senate election.
Two Republican insiders familiar with Deaton’s plan, including Jim Conroy, revealed the information to the Boston Globe yesterday.
Conroy, who has been consulting with Deaton, confirmed yesterday that the pro-XRP lawyer will decide in the coming days whether to challenge Senator Warren in the upcoming Senate election.
Deaton Could Become a Major Threat to Warren’s Reelection Plans
Notably, the race for who would become the next Massachusetts senator has been relatively dull since Warren announced her reelection bid last year.
Last month, Politico reported that no prominent figure from the Republican party has been able to accept the challenge of unseating Warren, who has been Massachusetts’ Senator for over a decade.
However, this could change soon if Deaton enters the race, as he could become a major threat to Senator Warren’s reelection plans.
Deaton Moves to Massachusetts
Prior to the Boston report, famous Fox Business journalist Eleanor Terrett recently disclosed that she believes a battle is brewing after Attorney Deaton changed his address on Meta (formerly Facebook).
The screenshot shared by Terrett showed that Deaton has moved to Swansea, a town in Bristol County in Southeastern Massachusetts. In addition, Terrett recounted Deaton’s remark during his latest Crypto Law livecast, saying he would be “going to where the fight is needed the most.”
My spidey senses tell me there’s a battle brewing. @JohnEDeaton1 says in his latest @CryptoLawUS video:
“I’m a marine, I’m going to go where the fight is needed the most.”

The development comes over a month after XRP community members urged Deaton to unseat the anti-crypto Senator. As reported last month, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse and other notable XRP enthusiasts retweeted an X post by crypto influencer Eri (@sentosumosaba) calling on Deaton to challenge Warren in this year’s Senate Election.
Despite the calls, Attorney Deaton refused to acknowledge whether he would accept the challenge.
Notably, Deaton has publicly criticized Senator Warren on numerous occasions. He pointed out that his problems with the Senator go beyond her anti-crypto stance to other issues, including poverty and income inequality.
Last month, Deaton said he would welcome a debate with her on every issue she stands for if he decides to enter the race. Per Deaton, Warren’s anti-crypto stance is not just about banning the nascent asset but violating people’s freedom of choice.
“People have the right to decide what’s best for their lives, not Senators living in an Ivy tower built on the backs of taxpayers,” he remarked.
Whether Deaton will accept the challenge to unseat Senator Warren in the coming days remains to be seen.
