Shytoshi Kusama, the enigmatic leader of the Shiba Inu ecosystem, elicits reactions among SHIB enthusiasts with his cryptic post on microblogging platform X.

In a recent post, Kusama tweeted, “Mask off…” He made the post while reacting to a picture from Shiba Inu’s Japanese community member Kuro. The image depicts a dog sitting in a vehicle’s passenger seat.

Notably, Kuro displayed the image as a response to crypto exchange Huobi’s tweet celebrating the national dog month.

Community Reacts

Amid the reactions to Kusama’s response, some community members amusingly asked if he was the one in the passenger’s seat of the vehicle. Others asked him to disclose when he plans to take off his mask.

Kusama Conceals Identity

For context, Kusama, who assumed the position of Shiba Inu lead following the sudden exit of the project’s pseudonymous founder, Ryoshi, has continued to conceal his identity from the public.

Like Ryoshi, the Shiba Inu lead developer also adopted a pseudonym – Shytoshi Kusama – to engage with the community. In July 2024, he made his first public appearance as Shiba Inu’s lead developer at the IVS Crypto event in Kyoto, Japan.

However, he attended the conference in a masked costume, making it difficult for anyone to identify him. A few days later, he visited Mumbai, India, alongside another top Shiba Inu developer Kaal Dhairya. Both developers were spotted in the city of Mumbai with masked costumes.

Is Kusama Planning to Take Off His Mask?

Notably, many Shiba Inu community members expressed frustration with his continuous efforts to conceal his identity. They have since urged him to take off the mask to help boost investors’ confidence in the project. With Kusama tweeting “mask off,” it is unclear whether the developer plans to reveal his identity.

In the meantime, the community is preparing for the Blockchain Futuristic Conference (BFC) scheduled for August 13 – 14, 2024. Recall that Shiba Inu is one of the title sponsors of this year’s BFC conference. As a title sponsor, Shiba Inu will be given a dedicated booth to showcase its ecosystem projects.

During last year’s edition, Shiba Inu introduced the highly anticipated Layer-2 blockchain Shibarium. Whether the team will unveil any special package at this year’s Blockchain Futuristic Conference remains to be seen.
