Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) recently donated BNB tokens to support investors affected by the LIBRA meme coin collapse.
The donation came as part of a charitable effort launched by a college student, Enheng, who aimed to help victims recover some of their losses. However, CZ’s involvement in the situation has led to a series of unusual transactions that have triggered questions within the community.
CZ Donates 150 BNB to Help Investors Affected by LIBRA Crash
Recall that the LIBRA meme coin gained attention after Argentine President Javier Milei promoted it. The token surged to a market cap of $4 billion before crashing significantly, leaving many investors with heavy losses.
Amid public backlash, Milei denied any direct involvement in the scheme, stating that he was unaware of its fraudulent nature. Despite ongoing investigations, investors are dealing with financial setbacks, prompting Enheng to step in with a charitable initiative.
In an effort to provide relief, Enheng donated $50,000 and opened a Binance Smart Chain (BSC) address for contributions. The funds were intended to assist affected individuals, with a focus on helping college students who suffered losses.
CZ, recognizing the effort, contributed 150 BNB to the cause. However, what followed triggered questions within the crypto community.

A Series of Unusual Broccoli Transactions
Shortly after CZ’s donation, an unidentified user launched a new Broccoli meme coin with a contract address ending in “caab.” The user then transferred 797 million tokens—about 79% of the total supply—to CZ’s wallet. Notably, these tokens held no observable market value at the time of the transaction.
The same user was also holding an earlier version of a Broccoli meme coin, with a contract address ending in “6714.” After launching the new Broccoli token, the user sold off all 560,010 tokens of the older Broccoli version for 79.9 BNB.
Following this, the same wallet consolidated the acquired BNB and sent 150 BNB to CZ’s wallet about an hour after his initial donation. This sequence of transactions led to speculation about whether CZ was indirectly recovering the funds he had donated or if the transactions were from opportunistic traders.
Meanwhile, another wallet later sent 10 million tokens of the older Broccoli version, valued at nearly $934,480, to CZ’s wallet. This wallet still retained 298,000 tokens, but the reason behind the large transfer remains unclear.
CZ previously made headlines when individuals began launching Broccoli-themed meme coins based on his pet dog. Although he did not create or endorse any of these projects, he shared information about the dog, which led to the emergence of several tokens that later crashed in price.
Notably, some believe the recent transactions was an orchestrated move to reimburse CZ for his donation, while others think it was an attempt by third-party traders to gain his attention. CZ has also received multiple other meme coins. Also, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin has often been a recipient of similar meme coin donations.
