A tweet has resurfaced involving an interaction between Ripple (XRP) and Elon Musk, sparking speculations that the world’s richest man may be an XRP fan.
Elon Musk has been vocal about his love for technological innovations, including cryptocurrencies. While he has publicly disclosed his support for Bitcoin and the leading meme token, Dogecoin, his support for other cryptocurrencies remains undefined.
Elon Musk Interacted with the Ripple CEO
Nonetheless, a reaction from Musk nearly three years ago has continued to make the rounds in the XRP community. The X owner replied to a comment from Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse on October 20, 2022.
“No way,” Musk said in response to Garlinghouse’s statement about the US SEC’s transparency issues during the years-long legal tussle with Ripple. For perspective, Ripple CLO Stuart Alderoty confirmed that the Commission has released the William Hinman document, which includes internal SEC emails and drafts from before his 2018 speech that Bitcoin and Ethereum are not securities.
Alderoty noted that the SEC released this after over 18 months and six court cases but highlighted that it was worth the wait. In response, Garlinghouse emphasized that although the agency claims to care about disclosure, transparency, and clarity, it has not demonstrated any of these qualities.
The CEO further noted that the truth would eventually surface, to the shame of the top Wall Street watchdog. This drew the reaction from Elon Musk, which is currently a hot discussion in the XRP community.
Is Elon Musk a Fan?
Meanwhile, several accounts have reshared the tweet, with some suggesting that Musk is a fan of XRP. Some others noted that the Tesla CEO knows XRP, suggesting interest in the XRPL native token.
Nonetheless, other reactions suggested that his comment was more of an interest in the US SEC rather than Ripple or XRP. Notably, Musk, also known as the DogeFather, has not hidden his dislike for the Commission.
He called the SEC “bastards” in 2022 and posted a cryptic message about the agency in an X post the same year. This comes after he noted in a 2018 interview that he does not respect the SEC.
As a result, they believe that Musk’s comment was not a sign of approval for XRP. Nonetheless, the intent of the tweet remains highly speculative, as Musk has not made any notable comment to support either argument since then.
