Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has revealed plans for a major project in Texas that he says will be the biggest project of his career.
During a recent YouTube AMA, Hoskinson said he was traveling to Texas to work on the project and planned to announce it publicly before the end of 2026.
He described the project as “world-changing” and said it will be bigger than Cardano because it involves “terraforming the whole planet”.
“I’m flying down to Texas for a special project; hopefully we’ll be able to announce that publicly this year. It’s the biggest thing I’ve ever done; it’s world-changing, bigger than Cardano.”
Meanwhile, Hoskinson did not reveal what the project is or exactly when the announcement will take place.
Hoskinson Drops Cardano Political Party Plan
The comments came as Hoskinson discussed his earlier idea of creating a political group within Cardano’s governance system to push for changes.
Cardano is governed through an on-chain system that includes Delegated Representatives (DReps), stake pool operators and the Constitutional Committee. Major decisions generally require approval from more than one group.
Hoskinson said he considered creating a voting bloc to influence Cardano governance. He believed the bloc would control around 20% to 30% of the network’s voting power.
However, he ultimately abandoned the plan because he believed it would trigger years of conflict and drama within the Cardano community.
He said the strategy would have made him and Input Output the focus of criticism if Cardano’s price or adoption fell short of expectations. It also would have created major disputes, including calls to replace the Cardano Foundation or recall funds.
Hoskinson said he no longer wanted to take on that fight.
“I came to the conclusion that I don’t really have that fight in me anymore,” he said.
Hoskinson Focuses on Midnight, RealFi and Other Projects
Instead of focusing on Cardano governance, Hoskinson said he would rather spend his time on projects such as Pogun, RealFi and Midnight City.
Cardano continues to operate under a decentralized governance system involving DReps, stake pool operators and the Constitutional Committee. No single group controls the entire process.
Hoskinson also said he is interested in projects involving artificial intelligence, blockchain and regenerative medicine.
He mentioned a regenerative medicine product that is approaching clinical trials. He has previously discussed his work in regenerative medicine and plans for clinical trials.
Hoskinson said spending time on Cardano governance disputes takes time away from these other projects.
“Every minute I spend arguing with people over the governance of Cardano is a minute I don’t spend over there,” he said.
A Secret Project
Meanwhile, the Texas project remains a mystery. Hoskinson called it “world-changing” and said it will be “bigger than Cardano,” but he has not disclosed what the project involves.
The project may involve technology, biotechnology, energy, infrastructure, climate or another field, especially given his reference to “terraforming the whole planet.”
More details are expected later in 2026.
