Micron Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: MU) shares slipped 0.37% to about $1,061 in Thursday premarket trading after closing essentially flat at $1,065.11 on Wednesday.
The dip came even after Micron reported fiscal fourth-quarter results that beat Wall Street estimates and issued a fiscal first-quarter 2027 revenue forecast above analysts’ expectations.
Micron reported $54.23 billion in fourth-quarter revenue and $33.42 in non-GAAP diluted earnings per share, compared with analyst estimates of about $51.33 billion and $31.72, respectively.
For the first quarter, the company projected revenue of $61.5 billion, plus or minus $1.5 billion, versus analysts’ $57.02 billion estimate.
Separately, during Micron’s post-earnings analyst call, President and Chief Technology and Products Officer Scott DeBoer said the company’s Nvidia-co-designed HBM4E product will use a foundry process rather than the in-house base-die approach Micron uses for HBM4.
Micron Details Foundry-Based HBM4E Co-Design With Nvidia
DeBoer said Micron has been working with Nvidia for more than a year on HBM4E, also referred to as NVHBM, and described it as the first major custom HBM product expected in the market.
DeBoer said HBM4E will use a foundry process for both the Nvidia-customized product and Micron’s JEDEC-specified product. Micron previously said it is partnering with TSMC to manufacture HBM4E base logic dies for both standard and customized products.
The approach differs from Micron’s current HBM4 product, which uses a base logic die designed and manufactured in-house.
Micron has described NV-HBM as a custom HBM4E implementation intended for next-generation GPUs and Nvidia NVLink Fusion platforms.
Nvidia says NVHBM integrates a custom memory controller into the HBM base die instead of placing that controller on the XPU compute die. Nvidia says the architecture can provide up to 30% more memory bandwidth and 15% lower HBM power consumption than standard HBM4E while freeing up to 25% more compute-die area.
Meanwhile, Micron’s tokenized stock (MUB) was trading at $1,061.57, down 0.70% over the previous 24 hours, according to CoinMarketCap.
