Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has welcomed TRON to Midnight, a privacy-focused blockchain network designed to bring confidential transactions to existing blockchain ecosystems.
Hoskinson made the remark in response to a commentary from SIG Network CEO David Millar-Durrant, who announced plans to extend Midnight’s privacy technology to TRON and its payment users in December 2026.
Midnight to Bring Privacy and Compliance to TRON Payments
Millar-Durrant explained that SIG Network is working with Midnight to develop Nightmode, a solution that allows applications to integrate Midnight’s privacy features without leaving their existing blockchain networks.
The planned integration, which already supports Ethereum, will be targeting TRON later this year. Notably, Millar-Durrant described TRON as a leading blockchain for payments. He highlighted its use for business payrolls and everyday transactions, including payments to cab drivers and service providers.
How Midnight Could Improve Privacy on TRON
Through Nightmode, SIG Network aims to bring Midnight’s privacy features to TRON while allowing users to continue accessing supported blockchain assets and applications.
According to Millar-Durrant, the system will support private payments, protect wallet balances and transaction details, and allow applications to determine what information users must disclose. It will also accommodate industry-standard screening tools used by centralized exchanges to support compliance requirements.
Additionally, applications will be able to segregate assets, control access, and integrate privacy features without abandoning their existing blockchain infrastructure.
Millar-Durrant emphasized that the proposed solution will combine privacy with compliance. This approach could allow users to protect sensitive financial information while meeting application-specific disclosure and screening requirements.
Hoskinson Welcomes TRON Founder Justin Sun
The announcement has generated excitement across the Cardano community, with Hoskinson welcoming TRON to Midnight and tagging TRON founder Justin Sun.
The two blockchain founders have maintained a friendly relationship over the years. In August, Hoskinson praised Sun’s ambition and drive, noting that Sun had treated him well and remained committed to moving upward.
